3 small but potentially big things we noticed in Star Wars lore
1. The Chosen One prophecy could have been wrong or misinterpreted
Yes, yes, I can hear you screaming at me from here. Quiet down for one second so I can just make my case. I will also preface this by saying I do like Anakin and I really enjoy Hayden Christensen’s role as Anakin in the prequels. However…
Sure, we all know Anakin Skywalker was the Chosen One, the one who would destroy the Sith
not join them
and bring balance to the Force
not leave it in darkness
. But why? Just because he happened to be miraculously born from midi-chlorians, having no dad and only having Shmi as a parent? Because, while yeeting Emperor Palpatine down the shaft in the Death Star and then dying himself, he technically got rid of the two current Siths? Yeah… I don’t like it.
Anakin was known for being reckless. The Jedi Council didn’t trust him (and ultimately failed him, as did Obi-Wan, but that’s for another time) even though he was said to be very powerful and attuned to the Force. But the man barely represented any kind of balance at all. Ill-tempered and whiny, I felt like we were just supposed to accept that he was the Chosen One simply because he was written to fit the title.
In contrast, look at Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka actually has the potential to be the one to bring balance to the Force. Why? Because she embodies it like no other. Ahsoka’s story arc, which took her from Anakin’s Padawan to a disillusioned former Jedi, gives her a one-of-a-kind view of the Force as well as her moral stands. By the time Order 66 was given, the Jedi were corrupt and more about power and winning wars than actually helping those who needed it. Call it a much-needed restart – with Luke still teaching the Jedi ways as we see him do in The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka could easily aid him in shaping it to be what the Jedi Order should have always been.
While Anakin tiptoes between the Light and Dark sides, Ahsoka shows true balance. Take her duel with Darth Vader in Star Wars Rebels, where she spares him out of Jedi-like wisdom rather than weakness – in complete contrast to what Anakin himself did to Count Dooku in Revenge of the Sith. That’s balance. That’s the Jedi way.
Ultimately, Ahsoka understands that balance isn’t just about defeating the Sith – it’s about a deeper understanding of the Force itself.
