12 things nobody wants to admit about Batman
By Mark Lynch
Christian Bale was an okay Batman
The Dark Knight Trilogy is legendary and will always be looked at as three movies that changed comic book movies forever. Christopher Nolan deserves all the praise he gets for creating something new. That being said, there is an asterisk to this statement. Christian Bale was an okay Batman at best.
Now don’t get us wrong, Bale was a perfect Bruce Wayne. He was everything that you’d want from a guy acting like an irresponsible playboy who’s hiding a secret. As Batman, the character (not the performance) was lacking. His Dark Knight was a very average detective and he’s supposed to be the world’s greatest. Meanwhile, it seemed like Lucius Fox did most of the work. To top it off, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, and Michael Caine carried the scenes when Bale was in the batsuit.
Batfleck was underrated
You can say the DCEU, Justice League, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice weren’t good films. What can’t be said is Ben Affleck wasn’t one of the best parts. That may not say much, but allow this writer to take things a step further. Affleck was one of the best performers to play the Dark Knight.
In every project he’s appeared in, Batfleck showed all the important sides of Batman. He was stubborn, a fantastic planner, arrogant, and dangerous. Realistically, this shouldn’t shock anyone. Affleck has been an amazing performer for years and continues to improve over time. Without him, Batman v Superman and Justice League may have been unwatchable.
