6. The Flash Season 6: Success Is Assured

We debated for quite some time where to place The Flash season 6 finale “Success Is Assured”, which aired on May 12, 2020, on our ranking as we’re aware that originally the episode was not intended to be a finale, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to function as one. Nonetheless, we’ve placed it as the fourth worst finale in The Flash’s history, and here are our reasons why:

1. Unresolved storylines: Again we know that the main reason for the unresolved storylines in “Success Is Assured” is due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the episode leaves several storylines unresolved and provides us with the lack of closure to some of the seasons’ plot points, so it left us feeling frustrated and hungry for more.

2. Predictable plot: We felt that the episode itself was pretty predictable and not much happened in the department of surprises or twists that may have saved it from its placement on our ranking.

3. Lack of action: While “Success Is Assured,” did feature notable moments of confrontation between Team Flash and Eva McCulloch, it’s worth noting that the episode differed in its approach to action compared to some other finales in the series. The series is known for its thrilling action sequences, and in this particular finale, there was a noticeable shift in focus. Rather than placing a heavy emphasis on intense battles and conflicts, as seen in previous finales, “Success Is Assured” opted to prioritize other elements of storytelling. The episode aimed to provide some resolutions for ongoing narrative arcs and character development, particularly for Eva McCulloch and the Speed Force.

With all this in mind, we felt it was fair to put the season 6 finale as the fourth worst in The Flash history.
