Superman and Lois: Every character ranked from worst to best
3. Jonathan Kent
Jonathan Kent has had to endure a lot change throughout Superman and Lois‘ first three seasons (and we’re not just talking about the recast!). His life in Metropolis was uprooted, his ex-girlfriend dumped him, and he struggled to keep up with his newly super-powered twin brother, all while finding out that his father was Superman. Yeah, it’s a lot.
Fans of the show have been frustrated for Jonathan a lot over the show’s run thus far, because Jordan’s powers have resulted in him getting much of the focus. That’s true, but the fact that the fans feel that strongly about Jonathan highlights the impact that the character has made. And it’s important to acknowledge that, because he has had some great storylines.
From learning to be an extraordinary human in a family of super people, to getting involved in the X-Kryptonite scandal in season 2, Jonathan’s been through it; but he’s also grown a great deal, which is why it’s so nice to finally see him flourish in season 3. His job at the Firehouse allows him to be a hero in his own way and that gives him the purpose that the show has forgotten to in the past.
We’d like to see him get a bit more focus going forward, as his relationships have never gotten the attention that Jordan and Sarah’s did, but Jonathan is on a journey and we’re all on it with him. Honestly, we love that for him.
