11. Peia Mannheim

When Onomatopoeia appeared in the premiere episode of Superman and Lois season 3, DC fans were stunned. Not only was it the first live-action adaptation of the DC villain, they were a unique choice given that they are normally a Green Arrow or Batman villain in the comics.

But Superman and Lois did what it does best and produced an original interpretation of the character. This wasn’t an unidentified human man who attempted to take down heroes without super-powers, she was the wife of Bruno Mannheim, equipped with her own sonic superpowers who also happened to be battling cancer.

The unlikely friendship Peia struck up with Lois Lane as the pair fought their illness together is easily one of the best aspects of the third season and it added so many more layers to a character that we didn’t know we needed. The storytelling was also exceptional, because when the reveal came, it was a very, very surprising one.

Peia Mannheim was an incredible villain, but she was also an amazing mother, wife, and friend, who was willing to do whatever it took to survive for her family. She eventually saw that she had done so much wrong in her life and attempted to make it right. And that, once again, made her a much more interesting adaptation of an already cool comic book character.
