Batman: All 14 Robin actors ranked from worst to best
1. Burt Ward
It doesn’t get more undeniably Robin than Burt Ward’s classic interpretation of the character in the ’60s Batman TV series. Appearing in every episode of the show’s three seasons – and reprising it in the 1966 movie adaptation – his Boy Wonder was by Batman’s side for the duration of the series and he was as crucial to the show as the Caped Crusader himself.
From his definitive look to his iconic “Holy!” quirks – which spawned anything from “Holy Ashtray!” to “Holy Mush!”) – you simply can’t encapsulate all that the young Ward brought to the role in just a few sentences. The show might seem gimmicky and dated by today’s standards, but it’s actually pretty timeless – and Robin is arguably the most timeless aspect about it.
His on-screen chemistry with Adam West’s Batman made for the greatest live-action adaptation of the Batman and Robin partnership ever, allowing the two to lead the show effortlessly.
Ward didn’t just personify the Robin from the comics, he became the definitive version of the character. And, in all honesty, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone capable of recapturing that – because it was, without question, magic.
“Holy magic in a bottle, Batman!”
