Oliver Queen and Laurel Lance

Show: Arrow

When Arrow debuted in 2012, DC fans were excited to see the comic book romance between Green Arrow and Black Canary come to life. As the original Arrowverse series arrived in a post-Dark Knight trilogy world, it opted for a more grounded approach than its source material, and that included Oliver Queen’s romance with Dinah Laurel Lance.

Here, the pair were longtime loves until Oliver was unfaithful to Laurel with her sister Sara. But when he lost everything after the shipwreck, he fought to stay alive, to get back to Laurel and make things right. He ultimately accomplished that, becoming a stronger person and atoning for his sins. He also found his way back to Laurel and the pair eventually allowed their love for one another to resurface.

Arrow only scratched the surface with the “Lauriver” romance and that’s because the show abandoned it to force “Olicity” instead. It’s a real shame because not only did Oliver have far more in common with Laurel than he ever did with Felicity, it was disrespectful to the legendary Green Arrow and Black Canary romance.

Nevertheless, thanks to Stephen Amell and Katie Cassidy’s chemistry, Lauriver left us wanting more. It’s the original Arrowverse love story, and one of its most underrated.
