MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER – “Bridge and Tunnel” – Howard Stark’s deadliest weapon has fallen into enemy hands, and only Agent Carter can recover it. But can she do so before her undercover mission is discovered by SSR Chief Dooley and Agent Thompson? “Marvel’s Agent Carter” airs TUESDAY, JANUARY 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on ABC. Agent Carter

Seasons: 2

Oh Agent Carter, how we miss you so.

Long before we had the Marvel Studios Disney Plus shows, we had the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV offshoots (that may or may not actually be set in the MCU). Agent Carter was the second of those, airing on ABC for two seasons between 2015 and 2016.

The show’s purpose was to showcase Peggy Carter’s origins and how she started her journey towards founding S.H.I.E.L.D. It was essentially a rehash of the Agent Carter short, but it was a welcome one, as it gave Hayley Atwell the chance to flesh out Peggy’s character and showcase her value.

The first season had a more cinematic quality to it whereas the second felt more television but its untimely cancellation prevented it from finishing its story and actually completing its purpose. That’s a darn shame, because the show remained high quality throughout its run, offering up something different from the typical Marvel fare and adding depth to its wider universe at the same time.

It probably should have been a limited series, but in this era of MCU Disney Plus shows, there is no reason that we shouldn’t get one final season of Agent Carter so that it can finally complete its mission of showing us the origins of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Verdict: Cancelled too soon
