The Flash

The Flash was a titan of television for almost a decade. The DC TV series originally began as an offshoot of fellow superhero show Arrow but it quickly carved out its own legacy, going on to become the biggest show in The CW’s long history and enjoying worldwide success throughout its whole run. That run lasted for nine seasons, and it all concluded for the Scarlet Speedster and his show in May 2023.

That means that, for the first time since 2013, there won’t be a new episode of The Flash to look forward to in 2024. It’s only when you say it like that that you realize how much of a regular presence it was on our TV screens, and it’s such a bittersweet feeling knowing that the show has ended.

What makes it even more bittersweet is the fact that the end of The Flash has also brought about the end of the Arrowverse, meaning that 2024 will be the first year without a chapter of that particular shared universe of superheroes since 2011. Now that feels like the end of an era.

We’ll always be grateful to TV shows like The Flash and the Arrowverse in general for entertaining us throughout this past decade, and we’ll certainly miss seeing these beloved heroes on our TV screens next year.
