Stranger Things

Now before we go on: Fear not: Stranger Things has not been cancelled. However, don’t be anticipating a new season to come out in 2024 either.

This is biggest of Netflix’s TV shows, and each season gets bigger and badder. With that, it’s understandable that more time is spent on the process of bringing it to the screen. That much was clear in the fourth season, which was easily the shows most cinematic outing yet. And with that, fans are expecting the same level of quality from its upcoming fifth and final season.

With that in mind, we can expect the wait for season 5 to continue all through 2024. Filming of the final season was set to begin earlier this year, but it was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which lasted months. The strike is now over and production is set to begin imminently, but with the amount of time, effort, and post-production required on a show the level of Stranger Things, the fifth season’s release is still likely going to be a long time away.

This is something that cast member David Harbour confirmed when he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that filming would take a year. Taking that into account, production likely wouldn’t wrap up until the end of 2024, and that’s not even factoring in the amount of post-production that this show would require, so a 2025 release is looking incredibly likely at this point.

Finn Wolfhard also suggested this when he commented in a GQ interview about him being 22 by the time that the final season comes out. He will turn 22 on December 23, 2024, meaning that we probably shouldn’t expect to see Stranger Things 5 until Christmas 2024 at the earliest – which is highly unlikely given that production won’t wrap up until late next year and a lot of post-production will be required.

With that in mind, don’t be anticipating new episodes of Stranger Things in 2024.
