We met many characters throughout Smallville's decade-long run, but who were the ones that the fans just didn't like (or loved to hate)?

8. Clark Kent

Now bear with us for a moment.

We're not saying that fans outright hated Smallville's interpretation of Clark Kent, because that couldn't be further from the truth. What we are saying is that, on more than a few occasions, fans were frustrated with the character and the decisions he made, unfortunately making him one of the few characters disliked many, many times on the show (but also adored dearly at the same time).

What frustrated fans about Clark? First and foremost was his downright refusal to reveal the truth about his origins to Lana. Time and time again the pair entered into a relationship with that lie hanging over them, which made Clark responsible for so much of their constant conflict. You can understand why it didn't work out between them when you think about it like that.

Then there was his annoying habit to constantly go it alone or ignore advice from experienced allies like Chloe. We love Clark, but he needed guidance a lot of the time because he just wasn't the brightest. His refusal to listen to that guidance often got him in trouble.

Clark Kent was our favorite Smallville character, but he was also its most infuriating, and fans had a tough time navigating those conflicting feelings over the show's decade-long run.
