4 more MCU characters who definitely won't be back in Phase Five

3. Steve Rogers / Captain America

Of all the characters mentioned on this list, Steve Rogers is the one that could feasibly return. Not because he had adventures in the past (although we would love to see them), but because it seems that the elderly Captain America is still alive. Or at least he should be (although The Falcon and the Winter Soldier wouldn't definitively answer that question).

With Captain America: Brave New World coming up, we wouldn't rule out a cameo from Chris Evans as the old man Steve there to support his friend Sam Wilson as he takes over the Captain America mantle, but that's unlikely at this point. Evans has repeatedly denied any plans for an immediate return to the MCU, especially in that particular movie, and it sounds like he's ready to move on. Honestly, Steve's story ended incredibly well, so it's understandable that Evans would feel this way.

It's entirely possible that he could appear in Avengers 5 or Avengers: Secret Wars as a variant of Captain America (we've already met one or two of them in What If...?) but as far as Phase Five goes, don't be anticipating any major surprise returns from The Star Spangled Man With A Plan.
