2. Buddy Daddies

Buddy Daddies is one of those anime releases that we so desperately wanted to take with us to 2024. Sadly, we had to leave it behind, as the anime pretty much told all of its story and isn't likely to continue.

The core of this story was that a little girl, Miri, had to be raised by two undercover assassins, Kazuki and Rei, who killed her father. Even though the duo had a couple of moments where they had no idea what they were doing, they did their best all the way to the day when they finally had to let their little girl go. Miri no longer had to be looked after, as she grew old enough to make her own decisions, including where she wanted to stay.

By the end of the anime, we saw her as a fully grown teenager who had her whole life in front of her. In the same breath, we got a sneak peek at what our two favorite assassins look like years in the future. (Longer hair and some facial hair definitely suit them!!) And, we see that the dynamic between the two remained the same after all those years.

This 2023 anime was nothing short of a wholesome one from beginning to end. While we hate to see it go, we think that it served its purpose---giving the anime community something that they can watch at any point in their life---to its fullest.
