4 Marvel shows that definitely won't be back for season 2
WandaVision
Back in 2021, WandaVision changed the game for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first ever Disney Plus show produced by Marvel Studios, it spotlighted Wanda Maximoff and Vision as they lived a quiet, happy life in the town of Westview. But as MCU fans knew, Vision died in Avengers: Infinity War, so how could this be? Well, that was the mystery of WandaVision, and the series was going to spend eight weeks unravelling it. And what a wonderful eight weeks they were.
WandaVision told a complete story, using the tropes of television to do it. This was a story that couldn't have been told on the big screen; it was designed to work on TV, employing elements of sitcoms from the'50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, and 2010s to make it work. And it pulled it off so well, with its Emmy-nominated writing showcasing the various stages of grief that Wanda was experiencing, and how the love that she felt ultimately drove her to turn her life into a sitcom. This all set the stage for her evolution into the Scarlet Witch.
In the immediate months after WandaVision released, fans hoped for a season 2. It wasn't likely given how it was lightning-in-a-bottle that would have been impossible to recreate, but still, they hoped. But it was subsequently confirmed that it wouldn't be happening when the Blu-Ray release was billed as "WandaVision: The Complete Series".
The good news is that the story has - and will - continued in various MCU projects and spinoffs. Wanda's story carried through into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Monica Rambeau's in The Marvels, Agatha's in Agatha All Along, and Vision's will carry on through Vision Quest.
While it's a shame that there won't be a second season, this was a wise choice because WandaVision is perfect just the way it is.
