4. Kendra Saunders and Carter Hall

Never did I imagine we'd be placing such a comic-accurate couple on a "worst of" list, but the coupling of Hawkman on Hawkgirl on DC's Legends of Tomorrow (and, to a lesser extent, The Flash) just didn't land in the way fans hoped it would.

Maybe it was the fact that the portrayal of both characters left a lot to be desired, or perhaps it's down to the fact that Kendra had a lot more chemistry with The Flash's Cisco Ramon, but the pair didn't gel that well. Carter was brutish and a little arrogant at times, particularly when Kendra couldn't remember her past lives, and it made it hard to champion them together. He didn't have the patience she needed and that set them off on the wrong foot.

The first season of Legends didn't know what to do with the characters, keeping them apart for most of the run, while also putting Kendra in a relationship with Ray Palmer, teasing a relationship with Jefferson Jackson, and also having her on the run from immortal stalker Vandal Savage (who claimed to love her but also wanted to kill her). It was a lot and the iconic Hawkgirl/Hawkman partnership got completely lost in the midst of all of that.

Carter was obviously a step up from Savage, but the show didn't give him anything beyond that.
