Happy Free Comic Book Day 2014!

Unless I messed up the auto-post feature somehow, it’s after midnight on Saturday, May 3, which means it’s Free Comic Book Day! That means if you have any interest in comics whatsoever, you should either already have plans on getting to your local comic shop later today or you should be making them right now.

If you’ve never been to Free Comic Book Day, it’s exactly what it sounds like on the label. Publishers both big and small provide comic stores all over the world with free comics to give away — some are reprints, but others have brand new material, including some from Marvel and DC. Exactly how many you get depends on the policies of your specific store, but no one should be walking away empty-handed.

We’ve already done a complete list of all of the books you might be able to snag today. We can’t tell you where the closest participating store is, because, well, we don’t know where all of you live. We can, however, point you in the right direction.

The official FCBD site has some helpful tips on how to prepare, but I can tell you from personal experience that the most important one is to get to your store early. Those free comics won’t last forever.

That’s pretty much all you need to know. Except for this: seeing all of the people out for Free Comic Book Day will simply make you feel good about the hobby we all love. So enjoy!
