Dawn Of Justice Stunt To Shoot In Chicago

Looks like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is going back to Chicago this October to shoot some more scenes.  Batman News caught a tweet from Chicago Tribune journalist Luis Gomez that the Chicago Film Office has the film on its schedule:

"“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is scheduled to begin filming in the Chicago area in late-October, according to Chicago Film Office."

Chicago has been a favorite filming area for DC movies lately.  Christopher Nolan shot most of 2008’s The Dark Knight in the Windy City.  Man of Steel‘s climactic fight sequence between Superman and General Zod was also filmed there.  And a Chicago Board of Trade Building was used as the Daily Planet.

According to Batman News, a few months ago, a reader by the name of Chad had notified them via email about something being filmed in Detroit:

"Today, Chad is back with some details that are much more interesting. He says that he overheard a man at a local coffee shop who was wearing a Milo & Sage badge, talking about possible shooting locations. Milo & Sage is the working title forBatman vs. Superman. Here’s what Chad says he heard:They wanted to film at the courthouse in Detroit at night, but because there would be loud weapons they ran into complications. There was talk about shutting down some train crossings. They were trying to find the right convenience store for a robbery scene.A helicopter was supposed to land on COBO Hall in Detroit. The production wanted to blow a hole in the roof. However, COBO said no. They had promised to repair it, but COBO still said no. They’ll be heading to Chicago to shoot the scene with the helicopter and explosion. There was also mention of possibly using the Masonic Temple in Detroit."

The key bullet point you should be looking at is the line that reads:

"A helicopter was supposed to land on COBO Hall in Detroit. The production wanted to blow a hole in the roof. However, COBO said no. They had promised to repair it, but COBO still said no. They’ll be heading to Chicago to shoot the scene with the helicopter and explosion.“"

I guess Chicagoans should prepare for an exciting October.  Detroit residents shouldn’t be too disappointed though because they’ll soon be getting a look at a car chase early next month.

Another city in Illinois to receive some Dawn of Justice attention will be Yorkville.  Later this fall, the production team will be heading there to film scenes for the Kent farm.  This is also the area where the original Kent farm was filmed for Man of Steel.

Hey Zack Snyder, I moved to California for the sole purpose of seeing Hollywood films being made.  What gives?  I think the West Coast needs some DC/WB love.
