Old Man Logan Summer 2015 … Wait, Isn’t He Dead?

This should serve as a final wake-up call to anyone that doesn’t think alternate worlds/dimensions/realities/what have you are at the center of all of Marvel’s Summer 2015 event teasers. It’s a promo for “Old Man Logan,” an eight-issue arc by Mark Millar that ran in Wolverine back in 2008.

Set in the always popular possible future, it featured an America that had been carved up into territories by super villains and a Damnation Alley-esque cross-country trip by Wolverine and a blind Hawkeye. This teaser has some things I remember from the original story, like the symbiote-enhanced dinosaur and Red Skull and Hulk basically being positioned as the villains of the piece, and some new stuff like the kid in the LeBron James high school t-shirt waering the Ant-Man helmet.

A big part of the story is Logan’s refusal to use his claws due to being tricked into using them to kill his fellow X-Men, so the fact that he has them out here could mean things are slightly different in this reality.

And unless you believe that Marvel is going to be bringing Wolverine back from the dead by next summer, this has to be another world. Not a pleasant one, mind you, but one we’re almost guaranteed to be seeing in Secret Wars.
