The Mid and Post Credits Scenes For “Doctor Strange”
Like every other MCU movie, “Doctor Strange” has a mid- and post-credits scene. These two, however, pull no punches. We’ve got the rundown for you.
If you heard rumors of no post-credits scene in Doctor Strange, we are here to squash those.
Because Doctor Strange definitely has a mid- and post-credits scene. We’ve been through this drill before, people, and a dozen movies into the Marvel Cinematic Universe means you don’t leave the theater until that final credit rolls past.
As always, if you’re looking to stay spoiler free, you should click away now. Reading any further will spoil everything (okay not everything, just the surprise).
SPOILER WARNING for good measure. You have been warned.
Let’s hit the post-credits scene first. It’s the longer of the two anyway. We find Jonathan Pangborn working in his shop. He turns around to find Mordo in a hoodie and asks what he can do for him.

“The true purpose of a sorcerer is to twist things out of their proper shape,” Mordo says, as he’s been away a long while and has had time to think about these deep things. No, sorcerers steal power and pervert nature. Pangborn explains that he’s stolen nothing. All he uses his power for is to keep himself mobile and functioning.
Mordo has none of it. He pulls Pangborn’s power from him, crippling him again.
“Why are you doing this?” Pangborn gasps.
“Because at long last, I see what is wrong with the world: too many sorcerers.” And fade to black.
This should not come as much of a shock to those who know Baron Mordo in the comics. After all, he is a super villain. If (but really when) the Doctor Strange sequel is announced, you can bet that the villain will probably be Mordo. Which might be a good thing, as we would already have a backstory and understanding for his motivations. It would help Marvel’s villain problem.
But really, the reason you came was for the mid-credits scene. Personally, it might be one of my favorite credits scenes Marvel has ever done.
“So earth has… wizards now, huh?” Thor asks of Doctor Strange to kick off this scene. After a bit of banter about what Thor drinks (certainly not tea!), we get into the heart of it all.
As it turns out, Strange keeps a list of super beings who pose a threat to earth and mentions good old brother Loki. A worthy inclusion, Thor remarks as his beer stein refills itself (Chris Hemsworth’s reaction to this is priceless).
“So why bring him here to New York?” Strange asks, so if you wanted an idea of what Thor: Ragnarok‘s plot may be, here you go:
Thor and Loki search Earth for Odin. They’ll leave earth as soon as they find him. Strange stands up as soon as Thor agrees to their prompt departure.
“Allow me to help you,” he offers.
And I’ve never been more excited for a Thor movie. Of course, the promise of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki would make anyone excited. But teaming up Thor and Doctor Strange on the same team even before an Infinity War? A glimpse at the possibilities to come! The thought of including Strange never crossed my mind.
The last time we saw Odin… well, it wasn’t really Odin, just Loki using his trickery to gain the throne. So where did the Allfather go? Wouldn’t you think Loki would keep tabs on him?

Despite two MCU movies to go before Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters (this time next year!), my interest certainly has piqued. What are your thoughts on the credits scenes? Excited? Bored? Too much exposition, not enough Howard the Duck?
Keep a watchful eye out for our own Steve Lam’s review of Doctor Strange, and be sure to warn others not to leave before the credits finish.
