Ezra Miller’s legal troubles have raised questions about the future of The Flash, but there are two options that could still get the movie released.

There has been a lot going on with Ezra Miller over the last year or so. Most of it hasn’t been good. They’ve been accused of assault, kidnapping, and other troubles with the law. They were most recently charged with felony burglary. And yet, it seemed like the show would go on when it came to Warner Bros. Discovery releasing The Flash. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the release of the movie is in danger.

In the grand scheme of things, a movie is the minor part of everything. If fans don’t see it, it’s not a big deal to them. But this is more than just the release of a movie. This means the work from the cast, crew, and everyone else involved is at-risk. This could have been the big break for a lot of stars and people behind the scenes. If The Flash is never released, their work will never be shown.

Reportedly, the studio is looking at three possible outcomes for the project.

Warner Bros.’ three options for The Flash’s future in the DCEU

Two of the options are to still have the movie released. The first involves Ezra Miller seeking professional help. After that, they could potentially give an interview explaining their behavior. According to The Hollywood Reporter article, “the movie would open in cinemas as planned” with Ezra Miller doing “limited” press.

The second option would be if Ezra doesn’t receive help. The Flash would still be released, but Ezra Miller wouldn’t have a “prominent role” in the movie, be involved in the promotion of the film, or be part of the DCEU going forward – which suggests that the role of The Flash may be recast.

The final option is that the movie isn’t released. While this is seen as a last resort, there has been speculation about whether or not Warner would actually do this. Warner Bros. Discovery infamously canceled the release of Batgirl for completely different reasons, but would they do the same with a $200 million movie?

With the possible backlash that could come from releasing the film, Warner Bros. sounds like they are weighing up all options at the moment. What they decide remains to be seen.
