Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
This wild and wicked Netflix show took the classic teenage witch character in a radical direction. Kiernan Shipka is sensational as Sabrina, a woman who takes for granted having magical powers while attending high school. The series has a quirky dark humor to go along with the magical shenanigans and some fun turns (at one point, even having Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick from the old ABC series involved).
The show got more outlandish as it went (at one point, we had two Sabrinas running around) with turns of time travel, demons, and more. It’s too bad it ended after three seasons when it had more potential to go on, but at least we get this terrific show to be a wonderful watch.

Witches of East End
Sadly only lasting two seasons, this underrated Lifetime series adapts the cult books. Rachel Boston and Jenna Dewan are sisters who are thrown to discover that their mother (Julia Ormand) is a centuries-old witch. A curse is that whenever her daughters reach 30, they die and their mom becomes pregnant again to continue the cycle. Gaining their own powers, the family is determined to break the curse while the ladies handle various romances.
A wonderful touch is Madchen Amick as Ormand’s sister with cat-like powers (complete with nine lives) and some wonderful humor. The first season has some good light-hearted stuff, while the second season gets darker. It’s too bad it ended on a cliffhanger, but the actresses alone cast a spell for it to be watchable.
