DC Comics And Gatorade Turn Cam Newton Into Comic Book Super Hero

Considering how little help his team has given Cam Newton at wide receiver during his NFL career outside of the venerable Steve Smith, it’s fair to say he already impersonates a super hero every Sunday (or Monday, or Thursday, but you get the idea). Gatorade and DC Comics have taken the analogy to its logical extreme though, transforming Newton into a bona fide comic book super hero called The Blender.

No, Newton’s powers don’t have anything to do with slicing and dicing veggies. He’s called The Blender because of the multi-faceted way he can defeat opponents, including his arm, his legs and his mind.

Since Newton’s character proved popular with fans when it debuted online, the two companies went the extra mile and printed up physical copies of his adventures. They’re being given away this weekend at several different locations before the Carolina Panthers take on the New Orleans Saints in one of the NFL’s biggest match-ups of Week 16.

No word at this point if the “Play 60 Kid” makes an appearance as the comic’s villain. He’s been warming up that arm with his eyes on Cam’s job for a while now…
