Guardians of the Galaxy’s First Official Photo

The first official photo for Guardians of the Galaxy, the crazy and underrated movie that comes out after Captain America: The Winter Soldier next year, has been released.

While it may come off as a little underwhelming at first, there’s something about it that makes me keep looking. It’s not increasing expectations at all, and maybe that’s a good thing; this movie doesn’t strive to be the next Avengers movie. It’s just a different cog in the Marvel universe wheel that gives comic book nerds everywhere something to salivate over and hope it doesn’t horribly disappoint.

We even get a synopsis!

"“An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.”"

Look, we all knew this movie was going to be absolutely crazy (Seriously? Bradley Cooper playing an insane raccoon? I’ll take it!). It’s that kind of crazy that will probably not sit well with critics but fans will eat up and demand more, more, more because no matter how saturated the market is, we want our comic book movies.

Marvel/Disney tends to know what they’re doing.

I will admit that I don’t know much about the GotG plotline and watched the teaser scene in the credits of Thor: The Dark World absolutely confused and wondering if I had slipped into some sort of acid-induced fantasy. In all the research I did afterward, this movie is going to be the good kind of insane. It will be one of those adventure movies you can’t help but enjoy.

And I can’t wait.
