After years of waiting and months of sifting through rumors, we finally have solid ground to stand on when it comes to a Venom spinoff film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, as well as other reports, Sony has just green-lit a slew of Spider-Man related films and Venom spinoff is among them.

Per The Hollywood Reporter:

"Kurtzman, Orci and Solomon will write Venom, centered on the black costumed villain that already made his big screen debut in the third Spider-Man movie of the Sam Raimi trilogy, that Kurtzman will direct."

This is amazing news that fans have been waiting ages to hear about and are only just now getting confirmed. We’ve seen just one big screen incarnation of Venom and it was a forgettable performance by

Eric Forman

Topher Grace in the least liked of the Sam Rami films.

Sony free lighting a Venom spinoff film should not only make fans happy, but it will give one of the coolest comic book villains ever a true moment to shine.

No release date has yet been made official when it comes to the Venom spinoff film, but all we needed to know is that a script is being written. Anything beyond that is just buns information we’re too giddy to hear at the moment.
