Dr. Who Stars Matt Smith And Karen Gillan To Appear Together At Wizard World Louisville
By Nick Tylwalk
I know what you’re thinking: how is this about comics? Well there are Dr. Who comics, and the Wizard World Louisville Comic Con, making its debut this year, is a comic convention.
Even better, Karen Gillan is playing Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy this summer, which is all the connection I need.
In any event, recently departed Dr. Who star Matt Smith and Gillan, who played popular companion Amy Pond for a large part of Smith’s run, are appearing together at Wizard World Louisville when it takes place at the end of March. Gillan will appear on March 28 and 29, with Smith joining her on the morning of Saturday the 29th. The stars will do individual autograph sessions, photo ops and Q&As before joining forces for a joint photo session on Saturday, which Wizard World is touting as the first time such an opportunity has been available to fans in North America.
To get access to the Doctor and Amy, you’re going to have to pony up some dough. Truly devoted fans may want to spring for the Dual VIP Experience, which costs $525 but gets you autographs from Smith and Gillan, access to the dual photo op, guaranteed seating at both panels, special lithographs, early access to the show on all three days, and more.
Individual VIP packages for just Smith ($349.99) or Gillan ($269.99) are also available, and if all you want is an autograph, those can be had for under $100 depending on the item. Full ticket info is online now.
Another goodie that attendees can snag at Wizard World Louisville is a limited edition cover variant of Daredevil #1 by Michael Golden. The variant has a print run of just 3,000 copies, and Golden will be on hand at the show to sign it.
I knew I could make this more about comics. I don’t live close enough to Lousiville to attend, but if you’re going, be sure to tell Gillan to holler, as we love us some Amy Pond. Nebula? She’s a little too scary.
