DC Comics has tweeted Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made their official announcement of the final installment in the Arkham series. Here is a bit of what Warner Bros. had to say about the game:

"Epic Finale to Rocksteady Studios’ Critically-Acclaimed Videogame Series Introduces Drivable Batmobile and Fully-Realized Gotham City Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Batman™: Arkham Knight, Rocksteady Studios’ conclusion to the series of award-winning, best-selling titles Batman™: Arkham Asylum and Batman™: Arkham City.  Batman: Arkham Knight is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license and will be available exclusively for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.  The game is scheduled for release worldwide in 2014."

The full announcement can be read here.It was reported by the official press for DC Comics.

In Batman: Arkham Knight the Scarecrow will be leading a group of Batman’s villains including Harley Quinn and the Penguin, threatening Gotham, and Batman will be facing a gauntlet of his greatest foes. I plan to pre-order Batman: Arkham Knight because if you pre-order the game you can play as one of my favorite Batman characters, Harley Quinn! If ever I was going to be a Batman villain Harley is who I would choose to be. Before the game was actually announced one of the rumors was that Hush would be the main villain in the next installment of the Batman: Arkham games. It is my hope that he will still be featured in Arkham Knight, either as a member of Scarecrow’s group of villains, or independently with his own agenda. With the Joker officially “dead, dead, dead, dead, dead” as Sefton Hill put it, and with this the final Arkham game, I’m hoping Rocksteady is pulling out all the stops and bringing in every note-worthy Batman villain we have ever seen.
