Hit The Road With Kurt Wagner In Nightcrawler #1

Kurt Wagner has been a lot of things. He’s been a circus perfomer and a priest (or at least he thought he was a priest). As the hero known as Nightcrawler, he’s been on many different X-Men teams and a founding member of Excalibur. More recently, he’s been … well, dead.

But as often happens with deceased X-Men, Nightcrawler got better, rejoining the land of the living in the pages of Amazing X-Men. Things have changed in his absence though, including the death of Professor X, the schism between X-Men factions getting even wider, and Wolverine taking over as headmaster at the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning.

What’s a teleporting mutant to do? Hit the road, naturally, taking care of business in Nightcrawler #1the way Marvel describes as “the only way he knows how: swashbuckling, lady-charming, and of course BAMFing!” And he’ll be doing it under the guidance of writer Chris Claremont, architect of too many X-Men stories to count.

“He’s smart, tough, creative and daring, with an instinctive understanding of people and situations. He has a wicked sense of humor and a devastating charm,” Claremont said in an interview with Marvel.com. “His ‘normal’ is revolutionary to most people; throw him a problem, he’ll find a way to solve it that’s unique to him. He quite simply is the kind of man others trust; to know him is to have faith in him.”

Nightcrawler #1 by Claremont and Todd Nauck (with cover art by Chris Samnee) goes on sale at stores and on digital on April 9. See some sample pages below and get ready to welcome Wagner back in just a few weeks.
