Know Your Convention: a Batman Fan’s Guide to Con Season! Columbia, MO

I have to admit a bit of shameless self promotion here. I’m actually on the board of directors for this particular convention, but that doesn’t mean it’s not awesome.

MidWest GeekFest is Columbia, Missouri’s pop culture convention and premiere comic con. Sponsored by the company CarFax, MWGF is entering its second year and is growing exponentially. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s getting bigger every year.

This year we boast Heroes of Cosplay star Holly Conrad as our keynote guest, plus a plethora of local comic artists, retailers and game providers. Local barcade Gunther’s Games is providing a full arcade and hosting a pinball tournament with TBA game cabinet as a grand prize! A hands-on pinball clinic will be orchestrated by professional flippers Adam “ZED” McKinnie and Aaron Hay and Holly will host a creature effect and cosplay workshop…all for free!

If that’s not enough, a masquerade for exclusive prizes, panels by comic industry professionals and a go around with the new Virtual Reality system Occulous Rift should be a little tempting.
