Hipster Batman Fanart!
Art by Phillip Sevy
I’ve found another awesome Batman Fanart to bring you this week dear readers! This piece, titled Hipster Batman, was done by artist Phillip Sevy. Who’s art can be seen here on Facebook, and here on Deviantart. What a unique take on the characters of Batman. See if you can figure out who everyone is in this painting. Some of the characters are quite obvious and others you have to take a minute and really look at them to know who they are. Once you figure out who they are you realize that Phillip has managed to capture the character in quite a cool way. Phillip has actually done a collection of Hipster hero pieces, including the X-men and the Spiderman family. This is what he wrote about Hipster Batman:
"Second up, debuting at NYCC this week, is the Bat-Family.When I came up with the idea of doing a set of these, the one I was most excited to do was this one. I designed the costumes first, I did the layout first, and then I drew the X-Men piece cause suddenly the idea of doing the Bat-Family piece was terrifying. And once I had the X-Men piece done, I was still scared. It took about two to three times longer to pencil, but the coloring was faster, having learned a lot from the previous piece. Hope you dig!"
I do dig Phil, and I think my readers will too.
I just want to take a moment to congratulate all the artists I have featured and will feature here in fanart of the week. My mother is an artist and as someone who did NOT inherit my mother’s talent for art, I can tell you that being able to draw and or paint humans is not really an easy task. There are plenty of great artists in the world who can’t draw people any better than a child, so bravo to all who CAN draw humans, and do it so well. And an extra huzzah for those who can create such wonderful art of our favorite superhero! To be able to not only draw a human that LOOKS like one but to get all the intricacies of Batman, and his costume correct shows amazing talent! That is the reason I feature fanart here on Caped Crusades, becuase I think art this good should be shared, and people this talented need to be seen. I hope my readers can appreciate the Batman fanart I share as much as I do.
