Arkham Origins DLC Cold,Cold Heart Review by Amanda Chrisman

Greetings fellow Batman fans! I have just finished the Batman: Arkham Origins DLC Cold, Cold Heart, so its time for a review! First let me start off by saying that while I love video games and consider myself very much the avid gamer, I am not as hardcore as other gamers, meaning in this case that I am not nearly as critical of games as gamers who work for sites such as Gamesided.com or IGN or Game Informer might be. My husband for example, Eric Chrisman, writes for Gamesided and he can be much more critical and discerning when it comes to video games than I. I am not trying to sound negative I actually think that the kind of review my husband writes is great for the discerning video gamer, I am merely stating that I am not quite at that level when I review a game.

Batman Arkham Origins in general has gotten a bit of a bad rap in the Batman gaming community, and I think it is mostly unfair. I think the game is solid, not quite on the level of the two Rocksteady games but still a good game and fun to play. I didn’t personally run into any of the bugs that other players have reported for the main story and had a good experience with Cold, Cold Heart as well. I will say that both Cold Cold Heart and the game in general are a bit heavy handed with the groups of thugs you have to fight, there just seemed to be too many groups and too many in each group. I was also annoyed that I didn’t have as long of a health bar in the DLC as I had earned in the main game, which made dying all that much harder to avoid. I think I died more times just trying to get through the DLC than I did playing Origins! But then again I never said I was that good at video games, just that I love to play them.

Over all I would give the DLC a 7.5 out of 10, the art was beautiful as always, it had a solid story, and relatively fun gameplay. It’s not as top notch as what we have come to expect from Rocksteady but that is because Rocksteady goes above and beyond to make their games wonderful and because at this point we expect a game with the word Arkham in the name to be the height of gaming excellence. If you enjoyed Arkham Origins at all I recommend playing Cold, Cold Heart because if nothing else the thermal gloves and new Batsuit are really hot (pun intended)! As always kiddies remember that Caped Crusades is your source for all things Batman!
