Who’s in the Justice League Movie Part 2

Yesterday, in light of the news that Justice League would shoot back-to-back with Batman Vs Superman, we started the wheel of speculation as to who will be in the JLA line up. Today we continue where we left off.

The Possible:

"AquamanCast out from Atlantis as a baby, Arthur Curry grew up on land, thinking himself a normal human. But when he matured, Atlantis returned, claiming him as their rightful king. Caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, he’s committed to protecting the entire globe.Aquaman is the king of all things aqua. He can breathe underwater, swim at tremendous speeds, and telepathically communicate with sea life. Being able to withstand ocean depths, he gets bonus points on land with his superhuman strength, enhanced senses, and nearly impenetrable skin. And although his courage and decisive nature have proven him a true heir to Atlantis’s throne, the continual conflict between land and sea makes him a citizen of both—and at home in neither.This one, like the Flash and Green Arrow are no-brainers to me. Unlike those other two of the Big Seven, Arthur Curry doesn’t have the baggage of TV shows to hinder his appearance on the big screen. Other than his mention in Entourage, DC has carte blanche, cinematically. With Geoff John’s popular reboot of Aquaman, he may not quite be the joke of the comic world he once was. He’s in for sure. Black Canary Dinah uses the Canary Cry only against considerably more powerful metahuman opponents. Black Canary is one of the very few characters who chooses not to take advantage of their superpowers, preferring physical skill over inborn abilities. During times of extreme stress, Canary has displayed the ability to create sonic vibrations capable of destroying whatever was obstructing her mouth.Dinah Lance is extremely proficient in the various styles of martial arts, and is among the world’s best fighters. Moreover, Dinah possesses uncanny reflexes, on many occasions showing the ability to catch or destroy arrows in flight. Dinah is also an expert motorcycle rider.Even though she’s currently featured in the CW’s Arrow, and therefore facing the same issues with possible reinvention, the Justice League looks like it will need more women involved. Black Canary is a great fit because she’s a long time Leaguer AND has a great dynamic with Green Arrow, bringing some much needed depth to what look like tertiary characters. She would be a bit like Black Widow on screen, I imagine. I hope she’s in. Martian ManhunterThe Martian Manhunter possesses the power of shapeshifting, which he employs for various effects (adopting human or monstrous appearance, elongating his limbs, growing to immense size, altering the chemical composition of his body, etc.). His default form during JLA meetings and in public is a “human-friendly” version of his actual birth shape.J’onn is capable of phase shifting, becoming intangible to pass harmlessly through solid objects. He can also use this ability to phase through people and machines in order to damage them or cause pain. He can also render himself invisible, and he originally acted as an invisible hero or unknown “angel”, helping those in need without revealing himself. In the Silver Age story “The Unmasking of J’onn J’onzz” he lost the ability to use his other powers while invisible and was revealed to the world as a Martian superhero, although his civilian identity of John Jones remained a secret.He may be a hard sell to a cinematic audience with his origin as-is, but considering the rumors of changing Wonder Woman’s backstory, they might change things up to fit him in. Unless you’re a hardcore JLA fan, you may not get why he’s such an important character. If it helps, think of him as JL’s The Vision. He can do things that the others can’t and brings a cohesion to the team dynamic. He should be in, but may be bypassed."
