Is Blue Beetle Coming To Arrow Season 3?
By Nick Tylwalk
That seems to be the popular theory of many who have read the casting information put out a few days ago by TVLine. While there are details on four different characters, including two who will be featured in the flashback scenes (moving from the island to Hong Kong after the events of the Arrow season 2 finale), the one that has garnered the most interest is ‘Daniel.’
Described as “a handsome, enigmatic and highly intelligent entrepreneur” who “harbors a tragic past that will drive him to become a tech-powered superhero,” it’s indeed entirely possible that this will be Ted Kord, especially since he’s already been mentioned in passing in previous episodes. His smarts could make him attractive to Felicity, and the way the Arrow-verse likes its love triangles, one can already see Ted-Felicity-Oliver and/or Ted-Felicity-Barry Allen forming this fall.
Another guess that could work is Michael Holt, a.k.a. Mr. Terrific. He’s smart and good with technology, plus his pre-New 52 incarnation had its fair share of tragedy, including the deaths of his brother, wife and unborn child. Also interesting: the villain with a “knack for chemistry” who also is supposed to be a physical match for Arrow. It’s trickier to guess the bad guys since the producers sometimes do riffs on the concept instead of incorporating them exactly as they are in the comics — witness how they handled Count Vertigo — but this is likely to be someone we’ve seen before as well.
