New Guardians Of The Galaxy International Trailer, Now With More Rocket Raccoon
By Nick Tylwalk
While the brand new international trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy contains quite a bit of footage we’ve already seen in its predecessors, it also shines more of the spotlight on the furriest member of the team. That’d be Rocket Raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper, who we see questioning Star-Lord’s leadership, assuring Star-Lord that his laugh is real, defending his handling of explosives and promising someone that “This is gonna hurt.”
The trailer also provides just a peek into Star-Lord’s backstory, revealing that he left Earth for space when he was just a kid. That suggests his origin might differ from the original one presented in the comics. Some online commenters have suggested that the entire preview strikes a more serious tone than prior ones featuring pop hits from decades past, but I’d say it strikes the kind of balance between action and humor that we’ve grown accustomed to from Marvel movies.
Believe it or not, there are still six-plus weeks until we see how the whole thing comes together, as Guardians of the Galaxy doesn’t hit theaters until August 1.
