Ferrari And Barrer To Rewrite Ant-Man Script
By Steve Lam
According to Latino Review, Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer have been brought on to rewrite the Ant-Man script that was revised by Adam McKay. If all of you remember, McKay was brought on to revise the script originally written by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. So, to keep things straight, we have Ferrari and Barrer rewriting Mckay who rewrote Wright and Cornish. This is starting to sound like I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. Or in this case, an “ant man.”
Wright left the project in late may due to creative difference with the studio. The making of the movie has been mired with quite a bit of drama, but the hiring of new writers this time around is actually quite normal by Hollywood standards. Ferrari and Barrer will be production writers which means they’ll be in Atlanta for a few months actively working on production revisions.
A quick search on IMDB shows that both Ferrari and Barrer are quite new. The two of them were writing partners since NYU and their breakout script was Die In A Gunfight which made it to the 2010 Black List. The script that got them the job rewriting for Ant-Man was their draft of a reboot for Sabrina the Teenage Witch. And that movie seems to already have a release date targeted for 2017.
Ant-Man will star Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang. A target release date of July 17, 2015 has been set and it will be the inaugural movie for Phase 3 of The Marvel Cinematic Universe.
