SDCC 2014: Jeff Smith Exclusive Variant Cover Of Rocket Raccoon #1 Revealed

Rocket Raccoon #1 is a pretty entertaining debut issue, certainly worth the $4 cover price. But is it worth $10?

It very well might be if it’s the version of it you’re looking at here, with a special variant cover by Jeff Smith. The renowned artist and writer serves up Rocket and Groot for a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive that will only be available at the Marvel Shop at the show.

“How cool is it to see Jeff Smith — the creator of the seminal Bone — render Marvel’s SDCC exclusive variant cover, featuring this year’s breakout comic character?” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said. “Pretty cool.”

Yes indeed, cool enough to be worth parting with $10, particularly since it is limited to just 5,000 copies. And if someone heading to San Diego would like to snag one for yours truly, I’d be much obliged.
