Ant-Man Looking For A Young Michael Douglas

When people meet you for the first time, do they compliment your work in Wall Street and say that you look much younger in real life?  Do they tell you that you haven’t aged a day since Fatal Attraction?  If so, you might want to head on over to Marvel Studios.  Backstage has just listed a casting call for a 45-year old Michael Douglas clone:

"Casting for the Marvel Studios feature film “Ant-Man,” starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. Project description: “A scientist enlists a thief to safeguard his size-changing technology, and also to create a superhero who will defend the world.” … Michael Douglas Photo Double (Background / Extra): Male, 30-45, Caucasian looking for a young Michael Douglas photo double circa “Wall Street,” “Basic Instinct” & “Fatal Attraction”."

As great of an actor Michael Douglas is, I guess he can’t morph his face.  It’s a shame that Douglas’s real-life son, actor Cameron Douglas, is currently serving time for a drug dealing charge.  He’s the right age and is a spitting image of his Academy Award-winning father.  Another option they could employ would be the use of CGI — the way they age-regressed Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Jeff Bridges in Tron: Legacy.

It’s unknown how a young Hank Pym will fit in the story.  Some speculate that we’ll be seeing a young Pym inventing Ultron.  This would create a solid connection with Avengers: Age of Ultron and the rest of the established cinematic universe.  Marvel Studios just recently announced two new writers, Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer, to do production revisions on a draft by Adam McKay.  The news of McKay taking over writing duties came after the leaving of Edgar Wright, the original writer and director, over creative differences with the studio.  Douglas himself has voiced his disappointment over Wright’s exit.

In addition to Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, Ant-Man will also star Paul Rudd as Scott Lang.  A target release date of July 17, 2015 has been set and it will be the inaugural movie for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
