Dwayne Johnson Confirms DC Cinematic Universe Role
By Steve Lam
In an interview with Total Film about the upcoming Hercules movie, Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he has a role in the DC Cinematic Universe. Both DC and Johnson are set to make a very big announcement soon. Though he was trying to be cryptic about what role he’ll play, Johnson’s hints blatantly point to only one character. Let’s see if you guys can guess who he’ll be playing from his description:
"I will say this. There’s a character out there that we’re going to announce very soon that … that I’m going to … [laughs] … that I’m going to play, and … and, uhm … I’ll just say this: He has the power of Superman. And it’s not Green Lantern by the way … He can throw down … Uhm, just say the word. That’s all I’m going to say."
I definitely know from all the clues — power of Superman, not Green Lantern, can throw down — Supergirl! I’m kidding. Yes, we all know that it’s most likely going to be Captain Marvel, or his most recent name — Shazam. If that’s the announcement, the timing is just about right. A little over a month ago, DC/WB had their
cinematic universe plans exposed
and
Shazam
was seen listed for a release date of July 2016. For a while, Johnson was also rumored to be playing Lobo. But after his interview with Total Film, he’s most likely not going to be the Main Man. The official announcement of the actual character will probably happen during Comic-Con International.
What do you guys think? Do you think Dwayne Johnson will make a great Shazam?
