Get A Guardians Of The Galaxy Collector’s Poster
By Steve Lam
For those of you who couldn’t attend Comic-Con and are sadly watching people pick up Avengers: Age of Ultron Iron Legion battle posters, have I got a scoop for you. Movie theaters across the country will be giving away Guardians of the Galaxy collector’s posters to fans who attend the first day-before special screenings in IMAX. Before people start crying foul and calling me a liar, midnight IMAX screenings may not be the first showing of Guardians of the Galaxy. Depending on the theater, the first IMAX screening may be Thursday, July 31st at 7:00PM. Not all theaters perform special IMAX screenings at the traditional 12:01AM August 1st mark. So, check your local theater to make sure that you’re attending the first IMAX screening for the movie. Now, let’s check out what you’ll be getting.
The poster was designed by Poster Posse member Marko Manev. From their Facebook page, Poster Posse is described as “a diverse collective of global artists who work with pop culture themes to create unique, collectible art.” I think Marko deserves a high-five for creating a great retro-looking poster. For the people born after 2000, do you know what that rectangular object is? No, it’s not a garage window showing tires that are being invaded by a pink snake. I’ll give you a hint: it was part of a weapon used to threaten the brain melting of George McFly by Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be released in the US on Friday, August 1, 2014. But for the people who want that poster, you’re going to have to see it in IMAX earlier than that.
