SDCC 2014: Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Release Date Confirmed

Hot out of Hall H and straight from James Gunn’s Twitter feed, we have confirmation that the release date for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be July 28, 2017. While reaffirming that he’ll be writing and directing, Gunn tweeted this out to fans:
"Yes, I’m writing and directing the sequel to #GuardiansoftheGalaxy for theaters July 28 2017. But first go see the first one out next week!"
The date of July 28, 2017 definitely puts a name to the eleven release dates Marvel Studios has already reserved:
- May 1, 2015 – Avengers: Age of Ultron
- July 17, 2015 – Ant-Man
- May 6, 2016 – Captain America 3
- July 8, 2016 – Unknown (Most likely Doctor Strange)
- May 5, 2017 – Unknown
July 28, 2017 – Guardians of the Galaxy 2
- November 3, 2017 – Unknown
- May 4, 2018 – Unknown
- July 6, 2018 – Unknown
- November 2, 2018 – Unknown
- May 3, 2019 – Unknown
Comic-Con’s not over yet, so you can be assured that Marvel Studios will be adding more names to these dates and we’ll be here to fill them in for you. But like what James Gunn said, go see Guardians of the Galaxy first when it opens in the US on Friday, August 1, 2014.
