Boy Born Without Right Hand Gets Prosthetic Modeled After Iron Man
By Nick Tylwalk
Inspiring stories involving super heroes are my favorite kind, and this is one: a 3-year-old boy in Maui got a prosthetic hand designed to look like Iron Man, and he’s much happier today because of it.
A victim of amniotic band syndrome, which can leave children without fingers or hands in some cases, Rayden Kahae was born without a right hand. His wish was for one that looked Iron Man, and thanks to the magic of 3D printing and a company called E-Nable, he was able to get one that comes in Tony Stark’s favorite color scheme and costs $50 instead of the usual $40,000.
His father told a Hawaii news station that Rayden was excited to get exactly what he wished for:
"As soon as he put it on and was able to close the hand, his face just lit up."
Somehow, we think that if Tony Stark was a real person, he’d approve.
