Gerard Way still writing Edge of Spider-Verse #5
By Daniel Wood
Superiorspidertalk.com have taken active steps to reassure us all that My Chemical Romance front man and comic book enthusiast Gerard Way is definitely still writing Edge of Spider-Verse #5 despite previous rumours and rumblings that he had been dropped from the title for another writer that was to be confirmed.
The rumour was started by an email that was sent by Marvel to comic book retailers that was alerting them all to a sudden change in the solicitations. Here is what they sent to people – “EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #5 (OF 5) & VAR ($3.99, FOC 09/22/14) will be written by a TBD writer, not Gerard Way which was previously solicited.”
However that report seemed to be completely false according to almost everyone. Nick Lowe, for example, quickly rushed to clear up the confusion with one tweet completely rubbishing the erroneous report.
He then followed it up with another tweet insisting that not only was Gerard Way still writing the script, but that he had pretty much finished writing it, and that it was awesome.
To back Nick Lowe up Superiorspidertalk even reported that “Rich Johnston frombleedingcool.commanaged to get hold of someone at Marvel, who when questioned about the email said: “That was an erroneous report.” The email’s notification appears to be a mistake that, for whatever reason, made it all the way to the people that we trust to stock our comic shops with “Spider-Verse” goodness.”
So, Gerard Way is still writing. If anyone thought he wasn’t.
