World Record of Batman Cosplay Broken, Apparently
By Skip Harvey
Did you know there was an established record for number of people dressed as Batman in one place? Neither did I, but there is. It sat at 250…until yesterday.
542 employees of a company called Nexen in Calgary, Alberta, Canada gathered together in cooperation to raise money for the United Way all dressed as the Dark Knight. After the inevitable dancing and celebrations died down, the crowd was wrangled together to be counted by the Guinness Book of World Records for a official five minute period. When all was said and done, they were granted the singular honor of being dubbed ‘The Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Batman’.
Karen Young of the Calgary area United Way was proud of the distinction.
"When we know we’re united to do good, we have the power to make a difference."
The Nexen company has raised around $17 million over the last 20 years with their fundraising efforts. It should be noted, though, there wasn’t a single Robin to be found.
