It was a big deal in the comic world when Marvel raised most of its printed comics to $3.99. DC raised a few of their own, but kept $2.99 as its base price. Heck, they wore it like a badge of honor. So, when DC made its decision to raise prices on Batman books, starting with the upcoming Endgame story arc, to $4.99, loyalists like scribe Scott Snyder got their feathers ruffled.
Regarding the price point on Batman, @GregCapullo and I heard about it yesterday w/you, and quickly made a case to DC about reducing it. 1/2
