Venom Carnage: What could have been?

facebooktwitterreddit

I am going to cover my feelings, thoughts, and concerns with you all if that’s okay I’ll try to keep it short. No histories and stuff like that. Just my frustrations from this point on.

As you probably already know I love the whole concept of Symbiotes in Spider-Man. Every last one of them has been a cool and varied batch of awesome to me. I remember being about 12 years old and going to this daycare/after school place/whatever it is called place and going on a field trip. We went to an Imax to see Spider-Man 3. To this day I still don’t hate the movie. There’s parts that make me cringe a little bit but there’s nothing that bad with it in my words. It’s far from perfect but I enjoy it. The whole concept of Venom in that movie most people despised. But I loved how Venom was in the movie.

I wish he would of been a central character (instead of sandman, green goblin, and more) of course but he wasn’t out of character to much or anything else. It was just all around awesome seeing him but I feel they could show him in all his glory far better.

Enter Venom’s Solo movie which has been rumored for years, set to redeem the Lethal Protector’s big screen image and we were finally going to get it after continuous start ups and stops. Then they drew off the curtain and blew me away: They were going to introduce Carnage for the first time ever on the big screen. I literally was biting my nails with happiness. I love Carnage he to me is the Joker of Spider-Man’s world.
But sadly I don’t think we are going to get that Venom Carnage movie. Like was previously posted it is “dead” or so people say..but was it ever really alive? I’ve waited what feels like 7 years for this movie to come out. Just for it to be announced dead the second it was announced!

That frustrates me, as well as probably some other symbiote fans! They could tell so many tales with Venom. His origin, why it chose Eddie Brock as a suitable host, which is pretty clear in the comics I think, but the movies could expand upon it even further, why
does it do what it does? Was it created for sport, for war, was it created? Or did it evolve. Then you throw in Carnage and you can have the most awesome face off ever. Father vs Son. You could dwell into Carnage’s instincts, his poor upbringing, his turn to become a serial killer. What drives him; why is he a ball of hate, why did the costume need to reproduce at all, I mean survival of the species would work but there might be even more to it! Where could you take this, the skies are the absolute limit Sony!

There’s so much you can tell. So many actors to do so (Jim Carrey as Cletus Kasady for sure!!). You can take it in an infinite number of ways. The fans love the characters. This…is just sad. Sony really messed up with this one.

I’m still not completely sure what Sony is planning for Spidey’s expanded Cinematic Universe. But they seem to need someone to guide them.  I mean they had everything lined up, a possible release date. A director/writer(s) and so forth why cancel it?

How do you all think Venom Carnage could have been? Of course these are just rumours. But say we don’t get it? What’s your dream Carnage Venom movie? I think a title that would of worked would have been: Venom V. Carnage: Like Father, Like Son. That just rings well to me. Let us know in the comments!
