Five Avengers We Still Need To See In Marvel Movies
By Nick Tylwalk
1. Wasp
It’s looking like we might get a Wasp-like hero emerging out of Ant-Man, so it’s possible we just need to be patient on this one. Still, it’s probably not going to be Janet van Dyne, and that would be a shame.
Start with the fact that Jan was a founding member of the Avengers in the comics. She’s also been chairperson of the team numerous times, proving herself to have leadership skills and tactical prowess that she never hinted at when first introduced in the 60s. In short (and that’s not an intentional pun on her powers), the Wasp is the rare comic book super hero to show some real personal growth. Sorry, that sounds like another pun.
In all seriousness, Jan has been one of the pillars upon which the comic book version of the Avengers was built. If you were ranking quintessential Avengers, you’d start with the “Trinity” of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, and you might put Hawkeye right after them, but you could certainly make an argument for the Wasp as well. She’s that important to the team.
Plus just think about all the fun the costume folks would have coming up with different outfits for her in each new scene! It would be a real shame if there were no plans for Jan, so all we can do is hope that Marvel comes up with something we’re not expecting.
