Futures End #26 Recap

In New York city, Mr. Terrific tries to confront an unaware Bruce Wayne about the stealing of his uSpheres.  In Columbia University, Dr. Yamazake terminates Jason Rusch’s employment.  When Madison Payne arrives looking for Jason, Yamazake kidnaps her and prepares her for use as a test subject.  At an undisclosed location, Terry McGinnis and Plastique plan to get the help of Tim Drake — the reason is that they will need someone who is known to not exist in the future, as to not disturb the timeline.  On Cadmus Island, Fifty Sue learns from Brother Eye that Deathstroke is playing both sides, and Cole learns that Lana Lang has affections for Deathstroke.  In New York City, Batman sets up a meeting between Ronnie Raymond and Jason, and also reveals that Green Arrow is alive.

Spoiler-Free Reaction

Futures End #27 is sort of a fresh start for new plotlines that play into the overall story arc.  Small missions are being initiated, so, naturally, it’s a lot of characters talking about plans.

Plot Details and Spoilers and Deaths: Oh My!

Green Arrow Island: Green Arrow, Big Barda, and the team prepare for their assault on Cadmus Island.  To find Cadmus’s location, Green Arrow will use a tracker that was brought back to the island by Deathstroke — which he thought was new technology from Green Arrow.

Metropolis: Arriving home, Lois Lane finds Tim Drake already waiting for her.  Tim’s hope is that Lois knows the whereabouts of Madison Payne.  Having no knowledge of her disappearance, Lois changes the topic to the original parcel items sent to her.  Tim examines them and tells Lois to revisit the coordinates even though she initially found nothing.  He tells her to take a “leap of faith.”  More concerned about Madison than what the items mean, Tim stays behind.

Cadmus Island: With serious concerns from Cole Cash and Lana Lang, Deathstroke goes back to the lab to secure the vault — a collection of DNA samples from every living and dead superhuman.  Deathstroke’s worry is that Brother Eye will use the samples to create other abominations.  Near Cadmus’s base, Mister Miracle spies on Power Girl.  When he’s detected by Brother Eye, a Brother Eye-controlled Huntress attacks Mister Miracle.  Brother Eye now wants to assimilate Mister Miracle’s Mother Box technology into his own.  Meanwhile, Green Arrow and his team are en route to the island.  They initiate the tracker and find that OMACs will be waiting for them when they arrive.

Manhattan: As Terry McGinnis and Platique look for Tim at the Wounded Duck Bar, A.L.F.R.E.D. notifies them that Tim is in Metropolis.  Terry comes up with a plan to break into Tim’s apartment to look for clues.  Tim becomes Batman Beyond and upon entering Tim’s apartment, he’s quickly ambushed by the present day Batman.  As Batman inquires Batman Beyond’s investigation into Tim Drake, small explosives are sent in and detonated.

At an Undisclosed Location: Flying over a large body of water, Lois Lane parachutes out of an airplane, hoping to find something at the mysterious coordinates.

Wrapping It Up

This was an extremely average issue.  All plot lines seem to be preparing for something, which is not that much of a surprise.  Last week, small story arcs were getting wrapped up, so, obviously, new stories are being initiated slowly.  With Green Arrow and team about to assault Cadmus, and Batman and Batman Beyond being ambushed, Futures End #28 should be pretty action-packed.  Here’s looking forward to the “future.”
