Batman & Robin, Joker & More as Elizabethan Heroes

Super Flemish, by French photographer Sacha Goldberger, re-imagines some of our most iconic fictional characters as Elizabethan-era characters. There are some non-DC characters such as Spider-Man, Chewbacca and R2-D2, but of course we here at Caped Crusades are primarily interested in the Batman characters. You can see The Dark Knight version of The Joker, who actually doesn’t look drastically different in style, just clothing more fitting the era. Batman Robin & Catwoman definitely look very different in their Elizabethan personas.
The series was shown last week in School Gallery’s Paris Photo booth. Goldberger writes:
"The superheroes often live their lives cloaked in anonymity. These portraits give them a chance to ‘fix’ their narcissism denied. By the temporal disturbance they produce, these images allow us to discover, under the patina of time, an unexpected melancholy of those who are to be invincible"
