Holy Flashback!: Batman: The Making Of A Hero
Tim’s Burton’s seminal Batman film in 1989 was a pretty big deal. So big, there was a 25-minute documentary all about the making of the film. This kind of stuff is commonplace now but not so much decades ago.

The video features Kim Basinger, who of course played love interest and intrepid reporter Vicki Vale in the 1989 Batman film, Batman himself, Michael Keaton and even Batman co-creator Bob Kane. The video goes into pretty good detail about production of the movie, as well as the inspiration for Batman’s design and influences such as Leonardo Da Vinci. It’s also sort of interesting to watch in light of the recent admittance that Bill Finger was instrumental in the design of Batman, how Bob Kane basically lies about how he created and designed Batman. But as it was meant to be a purely promotional video for the film, it’s not like they were expected to do some digging and come up with a scandalous or controversial angle for the piece. It’s still a very interesting video to watch if you have about 25 minutes to kill on your holiday weekend. Enjoy!
