Famous Paintings as Scenes from Batman
By Skip Harvey
Pop art is still art. Comic Book art has its special place in the art world. What we don’t see enough of is classic art mashups with comic art. Well, ambitious artist Vartan Garnikyan has done just that, and with our favorite subject matter, Batman. Check these out:
The Starry Knight
"My personal favorite, and most popular… Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Knight” reimagined as a scene with the Joker from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight”."
Hello, Beautiful
"Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” – the most famous painting in history – redrawn with a modern Batman twist."
American Gotham
"Grant Wood’s most famous painting “American Gothic” redrawn completely from scratch with a Batman twist."
The Creation of Batman
"Michelangelo’s world famous painting in the Sistine Chapel “The Creation of Adam”."
It’s the dream fulfilled for Batman ’89’s Joker, The World’s First Homicidal Artist. I kinda wish he’d done the painting of George Washington, too.
