Ryan Reynolds Returning As Deadpool
By Steve Lam
Via Deadline, Ryan Reynolds is closing a deal with Fox to return as Wade Wilson / Deadpool in a solo film outing. Reynolds first played the role of the Merc with a Mouth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) as a pre-transformed Wade Wilson. Reynolds has shown heavy interest in returning to the role, and today, tweeted out a teaser of his negotiations with Fox:
Just this past July, test footage was unleashed onto the Internet of a CGI Deadpool doing what he does best. Though the leak was quickly taken down, fans were excited and rallied for a confirmation of a Deadpool movie. As the movie was greenlighted, news came out that Deadpool would be set in the same universe as the X-Men franchise.
The Deadpool film will be directed by Blur Films visual effects veteran Tim Miller, with a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg. Production on the film is set to start in March. No release date has been set as of this report.
